MAKING CONNECTIONS TO INTRODUCE VOCABULARY

Shared by Luz Mª Santamarta:

I sometimes start my lessons with a Venn diagram to introduce vocabulary and make my students build connections. is really easy to do because it’s a simple illustration of two or three circles to show relationships among things.

Hence, I just draw the circles on the board and students have to complete the parts that overlap with similarities between two concepts I write, and the differences in the parts which do no overlap. I make them think about shape, colour, context…

There also some online tools which can be used to do this, such as Creately or Canva.
I believe it’s an easy way to develop logic and creativity skills.
