Some Whatsapp emoticons are shown on the whiteboard, mixing nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc.
The students have to build sentences including words about the emoticons. The sentences can be used in the past, present or future according to arrows and the students can make affirmative, negative and interrogative sentences, for that purpose we have some symbols (ticks, crosses and question marks).
Oral and written languages can be used at any time. The activity can be done about different grammar topics and there are various ways of working: individual, pairwork, small group and class group. The emoticons can be given by the teacher or selected by the own students.
The role of the teacher varies depending on the students' tasks and their language skills.
